These little commute flights seem to be the best. I got changed to an exit row seat and despite being in the middle seat, there was room aplenty. Three hours later and we’re landing in Phoenix, just as I was about getting uncomfortable in the seat.
The flight path we took, passed us by the Sierra Nevada and what a view! Heavy browns and dustings of other hues that gave the impression of a living painting. Certainly an inspiring start to the trip.
First thing I noticed was the damn heat. OK, so I left early in the A.M from Seattle but still, coming from an average of 70F and off the plane to almost 110F is quite the step but it is true about the dry heat; felt more like an oven door had opened and the moisture being sucked out the air. I am certainly happy to be in an air-conditioned car and on the road, so I can adapt a little slower to the temperature. Everything has that ‘heat wobble’ which is fascinating to watch (although I should concentrate on the road more).
The current mileage reads 6340, so lets see what we can rack up that to, before handing the vehicle back.
Right – on to the Sonoran desert.
