Arrived at Four Corners and what a missed opportunity for me. I had next to no cash on me, after buying the beef jerky yesterday and then after paying the $3 entrance fee here to the Indian lady, I had just enough left for some of the famed fry-bread (which was amazing). This left me with only credit and that’s something that’s not accepted here, so I couldn’t buy a single item of the handmade offerings (and there were aplenty).

Of course this is just the excuse I need, to make another excursion back here, probably next year. I’ll be sure to bring a couple hundred dollars with me at that point; so many shiny things!

Back on the road again at 7:30am this morning, after not waking up for the alarm. I must remember to get a wake-up call, or figure out what’s wrong with my phone alarm for last day tomorrow. I sure don’t want to be missing the sunrise at the Grand Canyon.

Had to miss out visiting Boulder, due to the late start. I’m sure there’s not much there (and likely would have ruined my fantasy pilgrimage, to Mork and Mindy land). I do need to make sure I’m bang on time today though, so I don’t miss out on Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque later today. I wiped most of the smaller petroglyph areas off my itinerary in favour of that one, so it would be a little let-down if I don’t get there.

Colorado is nice and I’d love to come back, but I’m flying in direct if I do. It’s truly beautiful country here, but it just goes on, and on, and on, like you’re on a country conveyor.

The day started with a beautiful morning, although they forecast storms for today (but it’s been good so far) and we’ll see if my locations, bear any of that weather prediction some fruit.

Motel6, Denver, CO.

Made it sufficiently early for a more relaxing evening tonight. For some reason when I got here, allegedly, they couldn’t find my booking and something about the whole network going down, with bookings lost. I see this as unlikely and would think it’s probably more ‘user error’, than a whole countrywide network system being brought down. They did have one room left for me thankfully, otherwise I’d be roaming around, looking for alternate lodgings.

I’m left wondering how safe the area is, after a quick trip to the garage for food and beer, presented me with some thick (bullet-proof?) glass, that the attendant was sweating behind. Makes you wonder how bad an area can get, before they resort to securing the person that much. Anyway, I’m here now and look forward to stretching my car-weary legs in front of the TV, before drifting off to sleep.

A really pleasant 14.3M/23Km hike today, to check in on my Camino legs (still powering me through with no problems 😁) A little noisier than I prefer as it parallels the 98, but still a lovely meditative walk. #FortFraserTrail
