Well, almost too many movies, to use my time up on. What with Sweeny Todd et al, I’m a little despondent that I can’t justify dipping into my NYE loot for the visual diversion. Luckily, I have Netflix and I’ve been randomly selecting some really quirky movies of late. Take last night’s Zardoz; odd movie indeed but quite a compelling view, of an alternative future culture. The floating stone head was actually fairly well done, if the acting wasn’t as convincing in places. It’s a John Boorman movie (Deliverance, Excalibur, Exorcist II) and really does demand some attention. Despite it being out when I was only 3 years old, I can’t believe I haven’t seen it before.

This is getting to be the most ‘un-Christmas’ I’ve ever had – and not that it’s a bad experience. My ex and the kids are out of town, my friends are out of town and my funds are all tied up (so I can fulfill an ambition of NYE in New York). With no parents alive any longer either, it will be interesting to see if I have even an spark of the festive spirit.

Work aside, I don’t intend to do much or go anywhere this coming week, save meditate, while I have complete silence from the world around me. I’ve been craving some of that this year, so I should make the most of it.
